I never know where the piece will take me when I start, how many mediums I’ll use, or how it’s “supposed” to look. I have a figure or something else in mind, start with a couple marks and then listen to the painting as I keep going until the piece feels finished. Like a dialogue between my heart and mind, each one searching the other for the most honest parts, cutting through all the bullshit.
